Deborah Berlin-Romalis, BSW, MSW, RSW, Executive Director
Deborah has been practicing as a social worker/psychotherapist since 1991. She has done considerable agency work in various women’s shelters and community-based services. In addition to her private work, Deborah practiced clinical social work in the Division of Haematology/Oncology at The Hospital for Sick Children from 1998 to 2014, working with children and their families in the Stem Cell Transplant Program and the Paediatric Brain Tumour Program. She has facilitated groups for women with eating disorders and body image issues at Sheena’s Place since 1998.
From 1998 to 2008, Deborah was a member of the Health Sciences Review Committee for Bioethics and Research at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. In 2003, she was appointed as an adjunct practice lecturer at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. An active public speaker, she has presented at numerous conferences including TEDxToronto 2013.

Claire’s experience spans the private and charity sectors, beginning with a 12 year career at KPMG in Toronto and the UK in audit and human resources. For more than twenty years Claire’s professional training as an accountant has provided her with the opportunity to work, in a voluntary capacity, with a variety of charities and not-for-profits, in both Toronto and the UK across a variety of sectors including education, health, social services and the arts. Claire’s passion for working with these organizations led her to obtain her Masters in Charity Accounting and Financial Management at Cass Business School in London.

Before joining Sheena’s Place, Florence served as the Development Coordinator at Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto for two years. She was responsible for processing donations, event planning, alumni relations, and database management. Prior to that, she completed four different co-op work terms in marketing and administrative roles. Florence completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Business at the University of Waterloo.
Lauren Drouillard, Program Manager

Lauren is a registered social worker who completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies and Feminist Research at the University of Western Ontario and Master of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto. Lauren completed her clinical placement here at Sheena’s Place and fell in love with our special work and inspirational clients. Most recently, Lauren was the program coordinator of the Central Island Healthy Weights program at Vancouver Island Health Authority in British Columbia. She has a passion for designing and implementing prevention, intervention, and support initiatives that draw on strengths, raise awareness, reduce stigma and inspire hope surrounding disordered eating and negative body image.
Sara Robb, Manager of Outreach, Research & Special Projects

Sara is a registered social worker who completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and French at McMaster University, and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. Sara completed a clinical placement at Sheena’s Place before serving as Interim Research Coordinator. Most recently, Sara worked in Montreal at McGill University’s Eating Disorder Program. As a social worker on the Mental Health Services team there, Sara had the opportunity to work with young adults struggling with eating disorders, a population she is passionate about. Sara is very enthusiastic about mental health research, awareness, and client-centred interventions. She is particularly interested in community-based care and the unique role of community organizations in providing accessible mental health services and support.
John Donnelly, Operations Manager

As house manager at Ronald McDonald House Toronto for more than fifteen years, John oversaw the delivery of services to 28 resident families, program planning, volunteer management and building operations. As transition manager and later director of operations, John guided the organization’s 2012 four-fold expansion to become the largest of more than 300 Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide. John is a passionate and gracious team player who appreciates how healthy collaboration produces something greater than the efforts of any one contributor, even, and perhaps especially, on the smallest of teams.

Annina came to us as a volunteer in 2014. Before relocating from Berlin, Annina was a project manager at Germany’s largest media monitoring company and digital strategy consultant to high-profile organizations in both the private and public sectors.
