Next Volunteer Group Information Session

SATURDAY 15 JULY 2017, 2-3 p.m.

We welcome new friends who share our commitment to providing compassionate care to those affected by eating disorders. We are grateful for the many queries we receive about volunteering, but our small staff is unable to meet with everyone individually. Instead, all prospective volunteers attend a group information session to learn about Sheena’s Place, find out what volunteering looks like here and pose any questions they may have. Following the meeting, those interested in further exploring volunteer opportunities are invited to submit a resume and schedule an interview with Sheena’s Place staff.

We’re currently recruiting Front Desk Volunteers. Supporting our busy Registrar, these key players respond to queries from clients, prospective clients and various community and other partners. They schedule client interviews, assist with the maintenance of a digital records management system, assemble information packages and perform light household duties, as required, such as the restocking of supplies. Where useful to the organization, volunteers sometimes enjoy the opportunity of applying their own specialized skills and knowledge. Above all, volunteers join staff in providing a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental space for the many clients we serve. Volunteers cover one three-hour shift per week in either the daytime (12:30-3:30 p.m.) or evening (5-8 p.m.). We ask volunteers to make a minimum commitment of six months.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, consider attending our upcoming one-hour Volunteer Information Session, SATURDAY 15 JULY 2017, 2-3 p.m. Sheena’s Place is centrally located at 87 Spadina Road, just two blocks north of Bloor Street. Space is limited. Please register with us prior to the event by sending a brief email including you name and the subject line INFO SESSION to [email protected]

SPECIAL NOTE: Many become interested in volunteering with us as part of their journey towards health. We ask, however, that such candidates wait one full year following recovery before exploring volunteer opportunities with us.
