We’re here to help

I have an Eating Disorder/Disordered Eating

Know This First

The first thing to know is that you’re not alone. Every day Sheena’s Place hears from people just like you, who are scared, ashamed and feel very alone. We are here to help. We are very proud of you for taking the first step on the path to healing. Even if this is as far as you make it for the moment, know that the minute you are ready to take the next step, we’ll be here. Call us, email us or come for a drop in and we will let you know what we can do for you, and help you find resources if you need them.

What is Sheena’s Place?

Sheena’s Place offers free group support for individuals struggling with Eating Disorders, as well as support for family, friends, and partners who have a loved one struggling with an Eating Disorder. You do not require a referral or a diagnosis to attend groups here at Sheena’s Place. We are not a treatment centre, nor do people live here. But we are located in a cozy house in the Annex. We welcome you, ask you to go ahead and grab a coffee or a tea and take a  seat on our couch where we think you will gain insights and find hope during one of our support groups.

I am concerned about someone who has an eating disorder / disordered eating

Being a Supportive Other

It can be a very scary time when you’re concerned about someone who might be struggling with an eating disorder. There is a lot of shame and stigma that comes with eating disorders, and you may be unsure of how to speak to your loved one, or feel scared to approach the subject. Know that you’re not alone in this. We encourage you to read through our resources here and gain some knowledge on eating disorders so that you can start to understand what might be going on for your loved one.

Family, Friends and Partners at Sheena’s Place

At Sheena’s Place, we offer support groups for Family, Friends, Partners and other loved ones who are watching someone they love struggle with an eating disorder. These groups are about YOU and your feelings. As you are well aware, eating disorders don’t just affect those who are directly struggling, but can affect every person whom they are close to. Our family and friend support groups give you the opportunity to talk about YOUR feelings, gain knowledge and get support from others who are in a similar position as you. You can use our registration form to register for those groups.
